Jodi L. Barrow brings a blend of complex commercial litigation experience and a lifelong dedication to special education advocacy to Barger & Gaines. Her practice centers on supporting families through education and special education law, combining sophisticated legal acumen with personal, community-grounded insights.
Jodi’s passion for special education began early when she volunteered as an assistant teacher in a special education preschool throughout high school and college. Over the years, that commitment evolved into a core part of her career and volunteer leadership. While practicing corporate law, she dedicated a significant portion of her pro bono work to securing public funding for children with special education needs.
In her community, Jodi has advocated for families navigating educational challenges. She has served in various leadership roles, including Early Childhood Center Co-Chair and Executive Committee Vice President at a local temple preschool, as well as serving on an elementary school PTA Executive Committee. Through these roles and school committees, she has frequently collaborated with parents, educators, and administrators to analyze and address the real-world challenges facing special education students and their families.
Inspired by a desire to use her legal degree to make a direct, meaningful impact on children's lives, Jodi pivoted her focus to special education law.
Prior to joining Barger & Gaines, she served as Vice President and Associate General Counsel at 605, LLC, where she managed complex commercial contracts, board governance, and legal compliance. She began her legal career as a commercial litigation associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where she spent more than a decade representing major corporate clients in state and federal courts nationwide, as well as in international arbitrations. Her experience includes high-profile class actions, complex contract disputes, and extensive appellate work. Beyond her practice, Jodi has authored legal publications for outlets like the New York Law Journal and led internal trial training workshops.
Jodi earned her Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School, where she was named a James Kent Scholar and served on the Columbia Law Review. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in Communication.
Jodi’s community leadership roles also include contributing to youth athletics as a Board Member and Tryout Coordinator for a local basketball program—and her longstanding commitment to supporting children and families is reflected in her past service as a Wish Granter and member of the New Leadership Council for the Metro New York chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Outside of her legal practice, Jodi lives in Westchester County with her husband and three children, where you can usually find her cheering them on at local sports games.
