Jennifer Swift, known for her personal touch and strong advocacy on behalf of clients, protects the educational rights of students and their families.
While her practice encompasses all aspects of education law, she has been focusing on tuition reimbursement cases, 504 plan requests, IEP modifications, and academic integrity violations (including AI).
Ms. Swift, the daughter of an educator, joined Barger & Gaines in 2021. In her previous career, she worked as a professional journalist—including serving as Editor-in-Chief of DC Witness and as a 2016 Juvenile Justice Fellow at the Center on Media, Crime and Justice at John Jay College—publishing magazine, print, and web articles about education, politics, and crime. She continues her connection to higher education as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
She is a graduate of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she worked as a clinical law student with the Innocence Project and the New York Attorney General’s Civil Rights Bureau.
